Biography
I was born in Montreal Canada and I live there and in San Francisco, California. I am an improvising musician, composer and sound artist. As a composer, I am searching for a way to articulate spiritual considerations in non-liturgical music. Many of my pieces explore the timbral possibilities of unexpected combinations of instruments, others are experiments in structured improvisation. Recently I have been combining instrumental improvisation with field recordings as an approach to composition. Much of my inspiration for musical creation arises from my observations of nature I am interested in expressing the physical gestures and sounds of creatures as music. My installation work focuses on this particularly; all of my recent pieces have attempted to bring attention to the disconnect between the contemporary human existence and the natural world that surrounds us.
